A relative of the Salvias from the mountains of Hawaii. This wonderful plant is tolerant of both frost and drought. It freely produces deep magenta-plum flowers from February to heavy frost in May or June. Loved by birds and insects, this plant is a real feature in the garden. The grey-green fragrant leaves are large shaped like a spear head (hastate). In heavy frost will be herbaceous but recovers in Spring.
