The violet globe thistle makes an outstanding statement in the garden producing wonderful purple/blue spherical flower heads. This makes a wonderful cut flower and dries really well too. The Violet Globe Thistle grows strongly throughout the season and dies back to ground level over winter, but re emerges in Spring. Very tough but needs a well drained soil. Dont let the common name put you off, it is not a weed nor a true thistle.
