Phlomis 'Edward Bowles'
Much admired by every visitor to the garden, Phlomis Edward Bowles combines the best attributes of the parents: the toughness and flowers of P. fruticosa and the large leaves of P. russeliana. Forming a tidy rounded shrub over 1m tall with felted green leaves and whorls of golden yellow flowers up the stems held above the foliage. The spent flower heads can be removed, but I like to leave them as they form an attractive feature.
