Tulip Columbus has attractive double petals that resemble a Peony. The flower has pink petals edged in white for a stunning effect as the blooms unfurl.

  • In most climates, Tulips benefit from being chilled in a paper bag in the crisper section of the fridge for 4-6 weeks before planting.

  • Ensure soil temperatures have cooled to around 20°C prior to planting.

  • Prepare soil to be weed-free, well-draining and rich in organic matter.

  • Plant 10-15cm deep 10cm apart full sun or part shade with the pointy end of the bulb facing up.

  • Water soil well at time of planting and mulch after shoots appear to protect from warm weather.

  • Water regularly and deeply.

  • Feed when buds start to appear for the best floral display.

  • An additional application of fertiliser once the flowers are finished will improve the next years’ display.

  • At the end of the season, remove spent flowers and allow foliage to yellow so that energy is re-absorbed into the bulb.

  • In very cool climates with dry mild Summers, bulbs can be left in the ground to rebloom next Spring.

  • In most climates, bulbs are best lifted when dormant and stored in a cool dry place. Don’t forget to place bulbs in the fridge 4-6 weeks before planting the next season.
